ABOUT STUDENT CONGRESS
The HISD Student Congress is a voice for 200,000+ students from all over HISD. We are a student-run organization that allows students to play a larger part in their own education. It is a chance for students who are not able to bring forth their individual concerns to speak up in a comfortable environment of his or her own peers. By engaging the entire HISD student body, the Student Congress is able to resolve issues on a larger scale, affecting both the education and general livelihood in the surrounding area.
The Debakey Chapter of the HISD Student Congress serves a double purpose: to recruit new members for district-wide Student Congress events and to focus on issues specific to DeBakey. In this way, Student Congress initiatives and actions are able to reach a much broader audience, while also catering to the nuances needed to approach issues in different schools.
